British Museum

Free to the world since 1753, the British Museum houses one of the greatest collections of human cultural history. Whether you’re coming to see real-life legends like the Rosetta stone and Easter Island statue, or iconic objects such as the earliest known image of Christ, the British Museum will intrigue and enlighten visitors from around the globe. The British Museum is free to all visitors. A charge may be made for special exhibitions.
Transport Museum

The museum’s collection originated in the 1920s, the collected items reflect allaspects of the history of public transport in London .The museum will give about 200 years of transport history in the capital and get to grips with the oldest public transport system in the world. London Transport Museum is currently undergoing redevelopment, which means the public galleries in Covent Garden are closed until autumn 2007.

To get a real taste of London life over the last 2000 years, you can choose to visit for the Museum of London - the world's largest urban history museum. The Museum has permanent galleries open to the public. The galleries are free to enter and you can explore the story of London from prehistoric times until the early Stuart period. Exciting new galleries and improved visitor facilities will open in the autumn of 2009.

National Gallery

The National Gallery houses a superb collection of over 2,000 paintings. The Gallery was originally established by parliament in 1824 to allow the public the opportunity to study and enjoy the riches of the collection. These pictures belong to the public and entrance to see them is free.
National Maritime Museum

Located in the heart of historic Greenwich, the National Maritime Museum houses the most important collection of objects relating to the history of Britain at sea. The National Maritime Museum's collection contains over two million objects related to seafaring, navigation, astronomy and measuring time. The Museum is committed to improving access to its collections. Over 10,000 objects are now online, with a further 500 to be made available by spring 2006 as part of the ongoing digitization strategy.
